dont think a stage one would be quicker than a XE corsa
i had a play with a ibiza (no idea what had been done to it, bar it was a diesel ) wasnt until 130 until i could pass it so i know there far from slow

TBH i'd be happy with as quick as XE but 50mpg
What are the easy ways to free up some ponies on them?

Remap is the main and the only one that makes any real difference.

PD160 intake, panel filter, exhaust (decat) and then an aggressive map saw 190bhp on my friends vRS. To go further you need a Sachs/Helix clutch, FMIC and a new turbo which if done right will see 220-230bhp. To go further than that you need different injectors.

Why would you want an aggressive map? Im sure a smoother progressive map would be much better?

You have to remember diesels have feck all torque up the top end of the revs. My Ibiza pretty much stops at 130 but gets there at a decent pace

He's talking about freeing up ponies, I'm saying that 190bhp is possible on standard turbo etc

It is possible, but don't expect it to last long. 185bhp is tops I would go to on a PD130 turbo, even then I would have a turbo fund

Unless your really wanting high bhp hybrid wont be necessary. Stage 1 is such a big difference driving wise then you can go stage 2 with more torque and bhp. Iv yet to go for stage 2, dont know if il ever go hybrid

FMIC (Forge or SeatSport) and a bit of other hosing: £550-£700
Turbo Dynamics Stage 2 PD150: £1,039
Sachs/Helix clutch (might as well go for Helix clutch and SMF kit): £550-850
Not required as such but should do them if you're doing the rest...
PD160 intake: £80
Panel filter: £30? Not sure on price tbh
Full system (decat): £400-£500?
Then of course handling/braking stuff but not as essential as people claim unless you're intending on ragging the car absolutely everywhere, I'm still on standard brakes atm and it takes a lot to cook them
Of course you can buy all that stuff second hand or budget on it, like I'm selling my Sachs clutch for £300 ish so that's a big saving if you were doing it. Don't have to get a new hybrid either but I did for peice of mind really plus I couldn't find a PD150 turbo anywhere :-\
Unit 18 charged me a further £400 for labour and mapping, that was just the turbo and map though

If you are going BHP hunting, skip the hybrid stage and go to BT.

From OJC's thread, ( here ), they said an XE does the 1/4mile in around 15secs, a good map on a Ibiza/Fabia should be seeing mid 14's

My mates Ibiza diesel was mapped by falkland performance and it made 185bhp/290lbft and my Lcr struggled to get away from it. I was seriously impressed with it's pace.
