Power is just a number you write on an internet forum. If you want some fun then keep it simple and light, use a 1.6 or a 1.8, you can then tune it nicely and it will still be fun and lightweight.

Might just bite the bullet and get a let. Is there any welding/cutting involved for a let

Nope, unless you want to seam weld the engine bay and fit the front cross-member strengthening kit.

Don't see why not, but if you're getting the engine bay painted then why don't you get the strengthening kit fitted too? Could be worth your while if you're thinking of getting a powerful engine.

You're put off buying a LET because of the costs yet you are pondering a V6 with bodies?

V6 will see over 200 with a few tweeks also.

Engines arnt that expensive either as they aint in demand like XE/LET.

V6 will just be harder to fit with it been larger.

Underpowered, overwieght and squeezed into the front end of a chassis that was intended to be used as a economical run-a-bout.

Need I go on?
