they are 860Kg not 750kg, the original S1 elise was about 750kg.

they go pretty well to bo honest, not as fast as an M3 in a straight line, through corners i would of said it would be pretty even.

the vx (and elise's) are cars that need to be driven propperly if you want them to do anything, there is no computer aids in the vx bar ABS which many remove so its you doing the driving not some fancy computer.

there s an argument on the vx forum that turbos are faster in a straight line but the na is better through the corners.. well i dont really buy into that, the turbo is about 80kg heavier than the turbo if memory serves correct (due to the heavier engine) but they use the same suspension setup so handling (some might say) is slightly better on the NA. I think this might be true but you or me aint gunna be able to tell on a public road.

the 2.2 is pretty bomb proof aswell, the only major thing to watch out for is the chain going, its common on the early na's as they had a small oil jet which was changed to a larger one (i have the large one now and side by side there is a massive difference) there arnt really many thing to go wrong with the car as its all so basic.

They are very minimal inside, but can be made more comfortuble by getting carpets etc slapped in. If your more than 6Ft or fat i wouldnt bother getting one they are not really catered for this.

what i found, and have seen through the years is only the people who really really have a passion for the cars end up keeping them, the majority just find them too much of a ball ache and sell them on as its not for them and thats fair enough

tuning wise.. the turbo is FAR better, mine is running about 300bhp (or will be) and has pretty much everything done to it, but i have spent near on 30k (inc purchase of car) getting it to the stage its at now. Tuning an NA car is never cheap.

That's all true mr chris.
I only sold mine as I had a Toyota hilux aswell and needed to sell one to fund the business. Made sense to keep the practical one.
I've never lost the itch as you can probably tell

I have a Turbo, 235bhp, GAZ suspension and better brake pads. Its perfect for fun driving on the road and ace on track with a set of R888s. VX220s are mega gash in winter when it freezes if you leave it outside though.

Will prob be selling mine in a few months to fund some travel plans.

@ mate

baza you cant jig them as the chassis is glued together,
if its damaged then it has to go back to the lotus factory (which costs alot so its written off)
no way i would buy one with chassis damage
