For comfort I wouldn't go for an M Sport.

Need a nice SE I reckon.

My Sales Manager had a 530d at work. His had done 250k miles when he sold it, after about 5/6 years.

Although it was like triggers broom, it only started giving him grief from 180k onwards.

He now has an A6 2.0TDi Le Mans Auto, which has had a new gear box after 8 months

How comes Deano? My msport 330 is one of the comfiest I have driven and thats with 19's and lower springs.

BMW auto's are amazing, absolutely love mine.

Not driven one coupled with a diesel though.

BMW's are notoriously firm on suspension and the M Sports tend to be worse.

Remember the courtesy car 3 series SE dad had compared to his 5 M Sport. It was all 'wallow-ee' and barge like. Comfy mind.

imho a nice gold/beige SE looks more 'comfortable' and corporate like. Depends on the business really.

I would describe sport ride as firm not harsh! Even my m3 wasn't harsh tbh.

Definitely harsh as it's quality. SE will still bet a better place to be if you're a passenger.

if your looking at 530's then auto is better although manuals are great

535D is only available in auto due to strength on gearbox

only partly true

Depends on the year - later models had revisied suspension for runflats and UK roads

Tyres also make a huge difference - They tend to run worse on Michellins (sp)

535d's are absolute weapons. That shape is starting to look a little dated now I am seeing the new ones around a bit more.

I quite like the new one, it looks nice and modern. They are big though yeah! Two of the directors here have the old one and they've both got the new shape one on order so had one on demo recently. It was parked next to the old shape one in our car park and its massive The old shape one isn't a small car either!

M sports are comfy, its the run flats that ruin them.

Deffo buy an M sport, nice to drive, look better, nice interior and generally hold their money.

Also if buying a 5 you MUST get an auto.

I have a 525D MSPORT, i've had it re-mapped to 225bhp so goes ok for a big bus!!

I get around 200-220 miles to £40 around town.

Mine is a manual because the Wife hates autos, its spot on so easy to drive. The suspension and ride is deffinately not harder or worse than my A4 Sline. I personally would never go back to an Audi or Merc.

I've lashed the run flats and gone for the 19" spiders with normal tyres, had two punctures in the last week lol
