Pier, silver really does hide dirt well. That 307 you posted, if that was a black one that had covered the same mileage, it'd look a fair bit worse!
Silver on the right car does look good, prepped, polished and treated with the right LSP can look good too - annoys me when people say you can't make silver look shiny - you're just crap at cleaning cars!
I'd probably also get bored of silver if I had to look out at a forecourt of them everyday though Tom! Both yours and car sales forecourts lol

My Audi is silver. Wasn't first choice of colour but I don't mind it. Hides dirt etc well.

i like in the sense that they dont show dirt and scratches as much as other colours but there are definatley more exciting colours out there
