They must be two separate challenges, surely? I know they are all on the west of the UK so it makes it easier, but sailing isn't going to be the quickest way between them all is it Rich?
Plus, distances to the summit from the nearest point on the coast:
Ben Nevis ~ 7 miles
Scafell Pike ~ 17 miles
Snowdon ~ 16 miles.

no one challenge, no sleep, running the lot of it - obviously need fair conditions to do it. I'll dig out some info. They do it in super Monohulls, Catamarans and Trimarans

Rich, when I say two challenges, I mean one is the three peaks in 24 hours using a car, whilst the other is the sailing/running version, wih no time limit? There's no way you could do the sailing/running challenge in 24 hours!

Yes, You're right on the sailing side
quote: The entire race involves a total of 389 miles of difficult coastal sailing, 26 miles of cycling and 72 miles of running, with approximately 14,000 feet of ascent, including 2000 feet between Ennerdale and Scafell Pike, to reach the highest points in Wales, England and Scotland.
Set in 2002 the race record stands at 2 days 14 hours and 4 minutes
I'm sure the MoD/SBS guys do it by boat though so obviously can't be sailing; could be on Belle the offshore defense VSV; that would make it along the coast in time and is the SBS boat of choice. I'll ask my "contact" for more details

2.5years to do it.
Biggest achievement so far is not dying in the Fastnet race - 608Nm in 54hours of the roughest seas I've ever been in
My cousins husband does the 3 peaks every year

Ran the london marathon and also the GNR. Done coast to coast.
Always been facinated by Mount Everest though. Watched all the dicovery channel programs(Beyond the limit) - well worth a watch, the IMAX production too. Read Bear Grylls book about going to the summit which was pretty good. Also read 2 other books on it "into this air" by john Krakaur and "The Climb" by anatoli Boukreev. Both were regarding the disaster in 1996 where alot of people got stuck up the top in a white out storm. Really interesting stuff! Would love to go up there but its a 50/50 chance of death and I just don't have that kinda money
