It isn't...veg is veg, bio-diesel is made from veg oil but is chemically changed to make it much thinner.

do not use in a modern high pressure injected diesel engine.

will run fine with a corsa 1.5d 1.7d and the old peugeot 306 1.9d and the old cavalier 1.7d (the isuzu engine)

anything old and rattley it will probably work

these new 'performance' diesels dont even think about it. anything 2001+ i really wouldnt bother.

Veg oil vs. RME is a pretty big difference tbh, you're chemically altering the hydrocarbon chains to get the difference in viscosity.

I would agree there's not much difference between chem-processed veg and the bio-diesel tesco etc blend with their normal diesel though.

Seem to remember heating oil works quite well.

You can use kerosine as thats cheap but illegal, but how the hell would your average copper know the difference.

Depends how switched on they are, pretty sure the exhaust smells different so if you booted it off infront of them they'd get a clue.

There's those mobile units that emissions test etc in Glasgow, they might well dip fuel as well like the teams do at Harthill.

Having said that, be pretty unlucky to get caught imho.

I do deliveries for Chinese Take away in my local town 3 nyts a week and I'm planning on buying a 1.5td corsa to do them in while I save for my b project. Is this fully legit and safe to use? I have access to basically unlimited supply of used veg oil so would be ridiculously handy for me. How often should I change the filters etc?

Yup as Steve says, technically you're meant to pay tax on it - which would still make it cheaper than diesel, but not by so much.

If you get caught running on it and not paying tax, you're likely to land yourself a big fine.

I know the old D-Turbo pugs for example you were best off running it on a specific make of fuel pump.

You are allowed to burn £2000 worth before you pay tax. But how they prove how much you have burned is another story.

How much more often does it need serviced etc? Surely they have no way to tell if uve used the 2000l already so deems that law useless....
