it's piss easy, but for the love of a god do it on a 125, a 50cc moped riders are the most annoying of all road users
i think from what i read on the directgov site you need to apply for provisional motorcycle entitlement on your licence. that could be automaticaly given when you get a full licence though im not sure

So much missguided information here.
If you have a full UK driving licence, you have to do a CBT then send off your licence for it to be ammended.
Do your CBT and you can ride anything up to 125cc's.
I'm thinking about getting a Honda C90 as a little bit of a resto project when I've got the MX5 all ship shape

surely A1 is passing your motorcycle test though, which would limit you to 125 til... 21 or is it 2 years?

Right, as seeing as my license has fkp 122 on it, this means I'm entitled to ride a moped, right?
edit- without a cbt, as it doesn't state it.

if you passed your full car test before 1/2/01 then you can ride a 50cc
if you passed after then you need a CBT to ride a 50 cc, regardless of when you passed your test you need a CBT to ride a 125.
all of the above is with L plates
if you have an a1 on your licence you can ride a 125 without L plates, and on a motroway.
if you have an A licence you can ride whatever the fuck you like

FFS RUSS HAS TOLD YOU ALREADY THE SITUATION WHAT POW HAS JUST WADED IN WITH IS BOLLOCKS AS WELL
If you passed your test after Feb 2001 you need to do a CBT to ride anything with 2 wheels, you don't need to send your license off to DVLA or anything, ring up a motorcyle training place, book a CBT, spend a day riding around cones and being spoke to like a moron, get a certificate, ride a moped.

I done mine a couple years back to ride my 125cc, fuck me what a joke. All day spent there riding around like a twat, if I can succesful navigate the Nordschleife I imagine a few cones in a leisure centre car park aren't going to cause me any issues.
Longest day ever.
