I love my iPad 2, it's lived up to all the hype which is something considering how much hype there is around apple products and I'm a picky bugger. If you go for the iPad I can assure you that you won't be disappointed, dont know if the same can be said for the playbook, never even seen one tbh. Bit of a no brainer at £100 cheaper too.

Ya. I.e a desktop browser that doesn't re-route you to an http://m. Page.
Apparently the Playbook is the same as a desktop browser

That's not the browser though, that's the website trying to be helpful Quite a few of the big names like Facebook seem to think that you should use their site via a dedicated touch interface as opposed to the real site, but they'd all show you the real thing if you clicked the override link at the bottom of the page.

Well that's what BB advertised so must be something in the ip?!
Anyhow. iPad is winning, but I keep getting visions of the OS multitasking in the background still playing your film etc

Its the browser engine, You can detect what browser the user is using and then from that forward them to a mobile site etc... IIRC the ipad doesnt get detected as a mobile browser.

My iPad (1) is great. Lots of video sites already serve up HTML5 video rather than flash. Anything else I'm hardly interested in tbh.
There are the odd times I have to email myself a link to a page so I can access desktop content, but that's maybe once a week.
If it's also £100 cheaper than the playbook even better.

I think the mobile detection is actually sites being lazy. I'm pretty sure (without checking) that safari identifies itself as 'safari mobile ipad' and 'safari mobile iphone' but most sites just see safari mobile and serve up the touch option.

Ipad 2 can tether to your iPhone for 3G access anyway

I'm disappointed in the playbook.
Acording to technobuffalos review there is no in built in calendar
It looks really portable which is a plus, but again there is no 3G so a tad pointless.
I think I have decided on an iPad, I'm just a bit let down as I had my heart set on a playbook tbh.
Xoom as mentioned has no flash support. It probably will in the end but I cba to wait. I love the look of the multitasking on it though!!
