You need to balance the 'heat' in your body with your diet. Cut down on fried/grilled food is a start!
Go to your nearest chinese herbal shop and tell them you have 'heat'. They will give you advice.
OR go and get Chrysanthemum (the flower) drinks from chinese supermarket as it aids to 'cool' the body and detox it.
Usual signs you have heat are: Sore throat, mouth ulcers, dark yellow piss, spots.
this is leading the way for post of the year

it will probably involve balancing something with something only a chinese man can find growing in a field.

Smoking more than I usually do gives me mouth ulcers and swelled/sore gums.
Could be that if you do smoke

Shell, I feel your pain. I used to use Adcortyl which is a steroid based cream thing but they banned it.
Try an anti inflammatory which will help it reduce in size and then anticeptic mouth wash

Nutritional value and health issues
Chinese culture has lauded shark fins' alleged properties to boost sexual potency, enhance skin quality, increase one's qi or energy, prevent heart disease, and lower cholesterol.[11]
Vitamin content of typical shark fin soup is much less than that of typical vegetable soup, containing almost no vitamin A. However, it contains slightly more iron, zinc, riboflavin, and phosphorus than normal vegetable soup.[15] [16]
There are apparently false claims that shark fins prevent cancer.[17] or treat osteoarthritis.[18] No scientific proof supports these claims; at least one study has shown shark cartilage to be of no value in cancer treatment.[19]
If consumed in extremely large quantities, shark fin soup may cause sterility in men due to mercury content.[20] The FDA recommends pregnant women and young children avoid eating shark fins

Heard of that before, suppose to hava a blanced diet with 'cool' veg (cucumbers, lettuces, muschrooms). Heard that drinking chrysanthemum tea is suppose to be good for your immune system, detoxing the liver, sunstroke etc. Can't say i've ever tried it, can't imagine it tastes that nice, but i know of a few people that drink it and say that it works.

i used to get a few a week and it made me miserable, got to the point where i couldnt laugh as it hurt so much. Went to the doctors in the end and i had a vitamin deficiency. Took the vitamins i was lacking and they stopped. Quickest way to get shot of them is to put baking powder on them, neutralise's them straight away and the pain is gone. Stings when u first put it on but just leave it on for about a minute then wash your mouth out works wonders. Got told this by a nurse and it works great.

Right, I've never really been one to drink fizzy drinks. Least of all diet coke type affairs. Yuck.
Currently on a healthy eating plan type diet whilst I try to lose weight and get fit. However, in hindsight, i was off the wagon this weekend and didn't eat great and had a lack of sleep so this could well be the cause.
Some helpful suggestions in here guys, thanks! Some not so helpful racist type remarks that have sort of ruined the thread a little.
I don't reckon I'd go in and say I have "heat" for fear of being laughed back out the door but I think I will look into chinese herbal remedies as I'm quite a believer in these things! Thanks Kenni
