If you've had the pleasure of working on these you will know how badly screwed together they are.
The amount ive dismantled where the speakers arent screwed in at all is daft!

Again, the few you and your dad have had don't account for the many thousands that have fucked up. You don't know that they weren't maintained properly. Didn't one of yours screw up anyway?

I bought one broken, fitted a new inlet manifold gasket and sold it for a profit.

well you're wrong!
my coupe was fine, my first mg zs 120+ was fine (sold it to get a work van)
second one as said above had a hole in a valve, fixed it and made £500 profit

I was thinking that at the time Mark, either you broke it, or your dad screwed up with a repair or something?

Not really, I changed all that for no reason in the end as said above the valve had a hole in it.

people slate these cars because of headgasket failure but once they are fixed not much goes wrong with them. the worse car i no of for headgaskets is a vauxhall's xe engine

Oh shit, that means I'm wrong I've had two XE's and haven't had to replace a HG, nor do I know anyone? If you replace it with a standard head gasket it will be the same, don't you mean a Land Rover HG?

Aye, so you have to modify the engine to make it reliable. Shit design in the first place?
