RS4 parts aren't cheap, a pair of front discs for a B7 are over £700 iirc.

For my Astra DTi (2.0) the cam chain is recommended inspection at 100k, not replacement

My cam chain is recommended to last the life-time of the car, which is 100k,i got lucky and had to change it at 104k,some owners don't even see 100k on a Z22SE before it snaps.

Always thought it was the tensioners that need replaced more than the chain.

Well aye it is,but its the original tensioner that fuks up on the Z22SE,so would be pretty daft to replace it like for like.
The updated Z20NET tensioner can't be used with the original guides,so makes sense just to replace the whole lot while the chain is off.
