So had the chance tonight to do a bit more work on the imp/garage..
Firstly i conjured up some new shelves
I then needed to fit these bad boys and cure the dullness (although i forgot to take finished pics)
Thank fuck the garage is now sorted and i have no more jobs that way on....
WORK ON IMP OFFICIALLY STARTED
after a visit from next doors cat
I managed to remove the lock i/my mate manged to get stuck locked and get the bay open.. it was very easy
the battery was flat so i removed it and im giving it a charge
i then removed the wheels and drums and free'd up my sticky handbrake (sorry no pics of drums off i was black)
then i had a poke about underneath, its not as bad as first thought by the looks although i know all too well rust can rear its ugly head...
i did find a nasty hole mind
and the sills that need doing
the majority of the body is like this also
in the pipeline?
i need a half drive ratchet and af sockets
fully strip to bare shell
shotblast/prime
weld holes that appear including sills and a patch/quarter
take it from there

Iv got a big home built manual from loads of old magazine articles and snippets etc listing cam specs, disk conversion templates, loads of old pictures etc. If you might need some info fire us a u2u

so i did manage to get a bit more graft done on the imp
first up i jacked the front of the car up and removed the wheels, the front drums were very stiff making the car hard to push, had them to bits for a quick look and the loosened the adjuster right off...(whilst doing this i lolled at how easy the front suspension is to remove)
I then started to strip the interior out, only have the front section of carpet, the dash and the headlining to remove now
i was hoping to frind some interesting things but meh, a couple parking tickets and a tax disk from 2002... least i know its been in the north east for a while now
this also arrived from ebay, a genuine rootes workshop manual (i have about 5 others for the imp aswell, all different)
will hopefully get the rest of the interior stripped tomorrow afternoon... then i can remove all the bolt on bodyparts and lights before i start removing the mechanical bits... overall chuffed how solid the floor is

I miss my old mans one of these, he had a mint one in white. I remember sitting in it begging him to keep it for my first car. kinda glad he didnt though as times obviously change
looks a good shell though, will be good to see it finished.

you keeping the standard engine?

yeah....
bike conversion is too much work and a space frame and engine inside cockpit
car engine such as xe ect the same
not many other engines fit in the bay
the standard engine is very very tunable but costs a bomb in n/a form
so i think turbo charging is the way for me, although a long way off there is a few guides and by all accounts is pretty simple with 150bhp reliably achievable.
150 bhp doesnt sound a lot but the car ways 700kg standard and mine will be a lot lighter i hope

Make sure you put bolts and screws etc in seperate bags. 1 for drivers door 1 for front end etc clearly labeled. Might be too late but meh.
Anyway progress looks good. Will have a proper look when at home on the lappy
