It's not - I prohibit speculative sales but the few who you name generally get away with this because they're regulars. Which isn't at all consistent or fair.

I try not to be too OTT with anything on here - I've got one stickied thread in my regional section.
Yes I do post write up's, but more because people seem to like reading them more than anything. (In some ways, this forum isn't totally focused at the general 'customer base' I work for)
The amount of u2u's and threads I reply to with nothing but advice though should kind of pay off for the very small amount of plugging I do on here tbh! That, along with still paying premium despite not owning a Corsa, and donating towards the truck etc etc.
However, if a policy should be put in place to stop bellends such as Dave, I'm all for it, I shall just fully retract anything business related on here, and as a result would probably contemplate cutting down on the amount of advice I give out on here

We have a policy John, as per the link in the first thread.
It's currently being bent - fairly validly it must be said - for people like Rich who do fully contribute to the community as well as exposing their business to it.

Losing advice from people like tom, rich, warren etc would be a big loss to this forum imo.
What kind of nob complained about warrens facebook page anyway? Moron has nothing better to do i guess.

Should be left how it is, people who contribute to the forum should reap the rewards of the business, Tom, Rich, etc. not some random who's only joined to make money from members.

Exactly. These guys have been here for years and have built themselves up an excellent reputation with the work they do.

So how do you differentiate?
Because those same new people are going to ask at what point they're going to be allowed to do it.

When you say 'allowed to do it' what do you actually mean? What are the likes of Tom, Rich, etc. allowed to do? As far as I'm aware they don't rub it in peoples faces, simply have a link in their sig and then will offer advice on various aspects of their trade when required as well as being a part of the general community. Noobs registering then posting an advert begging for work in GC is what should be stopped.
