random question warren but..... any idea why when you lift the clutch up in 1st to set off the gearstick almost comes out of gear into neutral, also does it intermittently in 6th
going to be helping a friend with his SRi 150 doing this thats all

thats what this used to do, and it you held the gear stick on off throttle in 5th and 6th would move too.....

but none of them were over 50k, most of these boxes seem to be going around 80k, which still isnt acceptable for a modern gearbox

20k on mine.. Vauxhall built quality is horrendous these days.

I had a few redtop cavaliers a good few years ago, used to leave every roundabout with a black line and reek belching off the inside wheel and never an ounce of bother. Never had an F20 go pop in my life and they got some amount of abuse.

Warranty repairs on my cdti astra came to over 6k in the end. Never again!

they are too busy worrying about what shape of vents to stick in the bumpers and researching what off the shelf mods people are fitting and then fitting them as standard

There seems to be no correlation with the m32 failures, some are main bearings, some are diff bearings and Big Ecks failure was completely different.

My bro's M32 has a groaning noise which sounds rotational but without splitting the box (cheers Warren) we wont know what it is.

Its not like they all have the same problem. Certainly beats the theory that people are not depressing the clutch properly though!

So, basically, we've established its a shit gearbox, prone to all sorts of problems.

Where do these m32's come from?
Why are car manufacturer's still using them?

Do Vauxhall make the M32 in house or is it sourced from another manufacturer or car maker?

If they do make it themselves was it developed by Vaux or is it built under licence?
