I use my iPad 2 more than my laptop.
Admittedly when doing stuff like eBay auctions or using Microsoft programs, nothing beats a desktop, even a laptop I find a bit of a pain. But for 99% of the stuff I use a laptop/desktop for, the iPad does it better.
I also wouldn't carry my 17" laptop around with me.

iPad2 is a brilliant bit of kit.
I tend to find the real haters are the ones who can't afford them tbh

What a daft thing to say Doug I can more than easily afford an iPad, but I have my computer in my room, and I have my phone for when going round the house on t'internet.

I think they serve a purpose. I hate netbooks with a passion. We've had iPad since launch and I can honestly say I've spent 5 hours maximum on it.

I love mine. Portable with enough pc functionality to satisfy my needs.
I initially wanted the playbook but it was too small and forever delayed. Glad I went with the iPad but I still seriously rate it. Tablets will become more and more popular sold along side phones in duo packages in the future.
Portable tv
Music player
Games player for monopoly etc
Internet browser
Emailer
Magazines
Read/watch the news at breakfast table etc
Indispensable for me. I love it. Use it more than I thought I would tbh

The reason I dont use it i should add, is it's major downfall, it's not set up for my apple ID. Account switching would be a great inclusion, there's rumours if it happening officially rather than just through JB
