I think I have matt black on the astra, they also did a nice smarties sort of thing.

Window tint film on the inside, about a 10" strip across the top is what you need. I done this in one of my Nova's back in the 90's and it worked very well.
If not just shut your eyes when it's sunny and drive using 'the force'.
