well you hear everything regardless but if is was crashy then its most likely shit old original coils.
the vx suffers from niggles like all cars, just depends how much time your prepaired to sort it.
if i was to buy another id have a standard na with decent suspension and tyres and a good geo and leave it alone. i certainly would not be going for big power etc again.

naa, put it down to the cat or lack of now allowing the smoke to bellow out, it smoked a tad prior to it failing but engine runs fine. doesnt really drink and oil now either which is wierd.
done a trackday and never missed a beat, doing snetterton next weekend so will see how it goes then.

It's funny, I've heard many many people with big numbers vx's say the same
Personally I think 230-250 is optimum before they get a bit ott for the road.
I went out in Nevs 500+ beasty the other day, fuck me that is mental

I can lol. There really were very few that sold for rrp, or anywhere near it. So £6k for a 10 year old car that was sub 20k isn't too bad.
And (ime) £6k isn't going to get a 'good' one.... Mines got 110k miles on it and I wouldn't let it go for under £7k, as it's worth more breaking it

tell me about it. still having physio on my back though so on't be through for a while yet.
also worried about back problems as the vx220 is so low. mk1 focus rs seems the better buy for me, but then it's not different.

for a decent NA with decent miles on it you would be looking at about 10k.
I dont think id let mine go for less than 16k-17k

i dont see why not, it depends how you look at it. sat on the drive its cost me £28k (inc car) to build and there are very very few s/c's as highly modified as mine atm.

i think some might of missed my point, i dont want to sell it and dont think i ever would but i wouldnt let it go unless i got 16/17 (does that make more sence?) i know its probably not 'worth' it to some.

nothing is broken ben, but it still has the standard rad and althought its probably going to be ok its just one thing (of many) little things that could do with upgrading.
you could buy johns car (white one) and run it straight away but there would be a small list of things i would have to do to get the best out of the car without going crazy

not sure you get it..
the vx has things go, like common faults if you will, (engine mounts, expansion tank, radiator) but what car doesnt..
the list i put up there is what i would do not what you have to do..
the vx is actually a pretty reliable car anyway as there isnt really much to go wrong with it.
