I love the opinions of diesel haters. They have obviously never driven or spent some time driving a proper performance diesel car. If you had then your minds would change.

So now according to the world I am not a petrol head because I have diesel. What a load of claptrap.

I used to loath diesel to the point were I thought I'd never own one but after having the Combo for a bit, they just make sense for a road car imo. I'm still not convinced on the track potential but then I've never drove a fast one.

Also, I think most people only care about the engine they have, nothing about the car. Its all 0-60 and mpg.

theres a reaosn why none of the hypercar or supercars are diesels and thats because the thrill, power, noise, excitement is better in a petrol, i am not saying diesels are bad but i would imagine you can pull more fun factor and enjoyment out of a petrol car then a diesel

And maybe it's just me but I don't see a Diesel Astra as a performance car either - no offence

I've had a mouthful of 102 Ron before twice! Both times I just got a faceful. Could taste it for days, worth it though I got a free tank of fuel

Diesel makes me think of Massey Ferguson, trucks, fields, farmers etc etc not performance.

Yeah, derv's all about shifting weight. That's why I said I'm not convinced on derv track cars, because petrol has more of a fun factor (in my experience) but a daily hack is the job for a derv, they're just easy. As a second 'fun' car, I'd be going petrol though.

some1 who is enthuastic and shares more than average interest in cars.

end of.

doesnt matter about owning an alfa, having a diesel, or even not having a car at all.

if someone cant afford a car but knows more than the average joe about them, variations specs etc

= petrolhead.

general working of the combustion engine is good.

having extensive mechanic knowledge makes u a mechanic, not a petrol head.

Have you read ANY of the replies? I can't really see anyone saying diesel's are shit? Quite the opposite? But they sound fucking GASH. There is no excitement what so ever. It does its job, and does it extremely well. But it's fucking boring. No matter how quick they go.

people who buy diesels make the decision with their head, its the sensible option. theres no passion there. id say being a petrolhead is showing a passion for cars, driving, motorsport

Sensible maybe if you want 60mpg, but thenmaybe that means they're not a petrolhead? 335d beemers with a map are probably about the same speed as my car, would I have one over mine? No because they sound crap, and with a big heavy engine upfront are nothing like a petrol car

Just to clarify, if I wanted a car to get me from a to b I would have a Diesel, but I wouldn't try saying it was a performance car.

To me a PetrolHead is someone who no matter what car it is gets drawn to them, I'm not generally excited by boring cars but just working around them I just 'Feels' right if that makes sense :-/ plus I spend most of my spare time looking on PistonHeads/Scoobynet and on here so I guess that qualifies me
