People lie and say motorway miles . Plus company cars that generally do motorway miles usually get thrashed . I'd always go for least miles privately owned

TBH iv never had a car with less than 100k on the clocks appart from once. it was a bag of crap and everything that could nock did. You find most over 100K have had bushes etc replaced already for MOT purposes, if they havent then there no going to be mega bucks to get changed.

Agreed with this.
I've had both and the last few have all purposely been below 30k miles as generally sensible logic tells you they will be better examples and people will still want to buy them in three years time.

52 plate TDi - 4k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk4-1-9-TDI-LOW-MILEAGE-Not-Mk1-Mk2-Mk3-Mk5-Mk6-/140657047283?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20bfd036f3#ht_970wt_1396
03 1.6 3k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-1-6SE-03-SILVER-/160686045817?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2569a27a79#ht_500wt_1413
So the 1.6 is newer, with half the miles, and is STILL worth less than the TDi.
Tdi's hold their money. Petrols....not so much

your right in one way. but if shes only doing 2-3 miles to work and back why does she need a diesel in the first place? cost more to buy cost more at the pumps?
Yes the petrol is worth less but there cheaper to buy in the first place with less miles.

She will spend the full 5.5k she has available. Not spend less, so im saying she'd be better with the tdi as she'll loose less when she sells it as she'll not put that many miles on

say she buys an 04 tdi with 80k, sells it in 2 years with 90k. or she buys an 04 1.6 with 30k and sells in 2 years with 40k i reckon both of them will depreciate the same.
the bubbles gonna burst for diesels soon

Our trucks have mostly done 1million miles plus and most of them have never had any major engine work.
Mileage is just a number. Rot is the only thing I look for in a car. Anything else can be changed for cheap.

Truck engines are slightly more heavy duty than car engines.

And I'm not just on about milage, I'm talking about buying a car with a better spec thus nicer to drive etc but with higher milage.

Our fleet stuff goes back after two years and most will have 90k miles on with alot of Carlisle to Southend trips at moment!
If I had option to buy mileage wouldn't bother me in slightest!
They will be better serviced than any other IMO and often high specs.
