Done another u turn, no point having Mini sat around when it's not practical so will get rid. Frees up a lot of cash as well as babies aren't cheap John D as you are sure to find out.

Ph1 or Ph2 makes no odds condition and spec more important I want one that's in nice condition bodywork wise.

Go for that one local to you, with the throttle bodies then. I can then rub myself next to it, when you take it to Combe.

Does it have to be a rallye?
Buy a gti,
I got mine for 500quid then sold the half leather interior for 200quid.
Not it's progressing into track car and will cost me less than 1500quid once Caged/buckets/harnesses/brakes/suspension/tyres all done.

The engines very much a bolt in affair, however on mk1's check the mount under the ecu as the mount point on the inner wing is smaller and should really have a mk2 bit welded in so you can use the proper engine mount. Also mk1's check the wiring behind the passenger headlight for bodging because it's not plug and play, mk2's car looms should just plug straight into 16v engine looms

make sure rear axle isnt shagged other than that its gearbox and drive shafts like you mentioned. sometimes they rust in the boot and front inner wings, keep your eyes out for the xsi`s too

i know this just sold but example of what i mean

The man talks sense. Buy a gti, fit rallye bits. If its just for fun there's no point paying the premium for a rallye then the extra insurance to cover the conversion

Awesome Ollie, thats a decent conversion that one as well. The Rallye Register is a great resource if youre seriously considering one. Absolutely loved mine.

My GTi was much fun!!

JP4 (C2 VTS) engine
J4 springs and cams
Heatwrapped Raceland Stainless Steel Manifold
Pugsport/scorpion 3" Decat system
Ecosse Enclosed Induction Kit with lime green induction hose.
Powerflex Lower Mount
Compbrake quickshift
GAZ Adjustable Coilovers
Floflex anti roll bar bushes
406 Brembo 4 pot front brakes.

Was rolling roaded at 142bhp atf, 120 atw.

Still had full interior, which was half leather with airbags, and was bang on even with a 197 on track.

My first car was a phase1 with a phase 2 gti engine, lovely little car it was. Not sure on gearbox as I never did the convertion. My mum bought me it for Christmas. Stripped out with a set of corbeau forza buckets. Will have a look for pics.

Wish id kept it now tbh, i wanted 2 buckets, lime green cage, new steering wheel then cams and tb's. Would have been so much fun then!

Friends Rallye:

Has changed a lot since that, and is specced up a lot. Fully race prepped running 173 bhp atf with 1 bucket seat and cage. Team dynamics over brand new Brembo's. Brand new gaz coilovers etc.
