Would be good, everyone would have to get a decent connection sorted to download the games, rather then have a horde of wireless laggers to play with.

Games are also suppose to run better off HDD than off the disc. I like the idea of downloading games instead of using discs. The amount of games, blu rays and dvd I have is unreal.

It would also take too long to download games. How big are PS3 games? Maybe 20GB+? When I downloaded the map packs for a call of duty game, that was 1.6GB and it took a few hours to download. If I was to download games that were 10-20 times bigger, its going to take days to download it.

Xbox can GTF if it will only be digital downloads

I'm around 15 miles from the nearest Telephone exchange (according to BT anyway) and although I have broadband etc, it is ridiculously slow - even the 4MB updates that occasionally appear for games now take me about 30mins to download - COD map packs have to be left overnight/during the day to be done.

Russ i beleive you are a tad short sighted. It will all become downloads, the trade in thing is killing the game industry.

Nintendo <3

I can see why game companies/developers would prefer to have it all digital as they could have a even tighter monopoly on the market, would be cheaper and imo alot more efficient would eliminate all cost's of staff, shops etc.

Only thing i can see it not working here is not everyone has decent internet access to download all these large files.

I cant be the only person who prefers a actual copy over a digital download?!

For some reason the GAME stores near me got rid of their PC games, and the Gamestation has about half a shelf for them, that's why everyone I know who uses a PC buys from Steam, it's cheaper and easier

Steam is hardly ever cheaper.

Jambo the way they get round the trade in market is making you buy an online pass to play games online

Anyone who uses steam for all their games in the Uk is paying over the odds for them.

Example - Deus Ex : Human Revolution - £12.95 zavvi and on steam its £29.99

Mw3 - £19.99 on amazon - £40 steam.

MW3 £19.99

Steam basically does over the top RRP so that when it has a "sale" and says 10% off people think they are getting a good deal but it's still more expensive.

I only buy Steam games if they are literally a couple of quid. Portal 2 was only a fiver the other day.

That's the Christmas deal, something like 50% off and it's still only £2 cheaper then the normal price on Zavvi, is back to £30 on steam now.

For about 360 days of the year everywhere else is pretty much cheaper then steam.

You said the sale was 10% off and still more expensive, obviously not if it was 67% off and cheaper
