Guy came out, wasn't happy it wasn't me there personally, drilled one hole and said it would be £19 to do it, using polystyrene balls.
He laughed at the suggestion of it causing damp and asked did we have a builder friend 
Think I'll go for it.

You happy with the mess it leaves the exterior in?? Cant mind what your house is like but my parents is concrete skim on brick painted white, it looked awful afterwards!!

Mine is mostly brick with some roughcast, didn't think it was that bad? Some holes mainly at the top covered up?
I'll see how he patched the inspection hole when I get home.
