Missus' mum had the very same procedure and takes the warfarin every day as well.

Respect to you, I shiver every time I hear her talking about hearing herself tick when she's lieing down never mind actually get the procedure done.

At least you are alive and healthy to tell the tale, 'tis all that matters

Well done mate. Real brave stuff that.

Reminds me I need to book to give some blood. I was the freak that had a funny turn last time and it has put me off it a bit. Seeing things like this makes you realise how much the blood service needs it donors to complete these life saving ops.

Thanks Phil, I personally can't give blood any more due to the warfarin but I'm trying to get a few mates to sign up for it, one of the simplest but most life saving things you can do!

Love you too Willz, it's been to long

Only a little needle too!

I was at a conference last year and had the opportunity to watch an aortic valve replacement (with a synthetic one). One of the most fascinating things I've ever seen!

That's a great attitude to have at a young age, Jakey. I'm pleased to hear you're on the mend.

Just to inform, though, warfarin isn't a blood-thinning drug. It just makes your blood less sticky. The reason I've pointed that out is because you'll need to keep an eye any swelling in the lower legs. I'm sure your surgeons told you to keep an eye out for that.

Do you hear any 'tapping' in the morning when it's quiet?

Yeah sorry, I did know it makes it less sticky, I've just gotten used to telling me not-so-clued-up friends that it makes it thinner to make it easier in conversations!

Yeah I know about the swelling too, i've got tight stocking things that i have to wear for 23hours of the day!

You can hear the ticking all the time
