Journey when I collect car, is a good 4 hours. so plenty of time to test.
I will be doing as paul said, I think. Seems best option so far.
Will change oil soon as I get home, I expect abit of crap in the oil

when you get repairs done on washing machines, you dont use it on half power for the first 500 washes, do you?

spoke to the 2 head techs over at Porsche this morning and asked them about this
Their repsonse was take it easy and bed it in gently the first 500 miles always as you will get swarf floating around
they did take into the account of making it perform better if you give it death from the start, but said if its longevity you want especially after forking out for a rebuild, taking it easy is the way forward

yes i did. im sure thousands of parts make up a washing machine.
besides, the same goes for any appliance.

rubbish.
A washing machine consists of a drum, bearings, more recently a direct drive and a stator.
unlike a car engine which is far more complicated and nothing like a washing machine or home appliance

comparing a washing machine to a car engine is like comparing a tin of quality street and a door bell

should make a thread mate. these grown adults building lego threads sat on their own seem to go down well so I'm sure kitchen appliances will appeal more to the masses

a washing machine costs less, doesnt use piston rings to bed in the bores, full film bearings etc etc etc
shite comparison

What you need is a good seal between the pistons and cylinders, the piston rings do that and stop oil getting into the combustion chamber and fuel into the sump. Give it death and they may not bed properly and the engine won't last too long.

... too easy a run in and the same will happen. Too weak a seal.
