There's also the big factor of the UK roads being completely unsuitable for a go kart

What a stupid idea and a stupid way of thinking that you have beaten the law with this electric go kart

Dont see the problem. I also don't understand this law, its ok for an old person to ride one of their scooters on the path but its illegal for me to ride an electric scooter?

well thats ok then, i will fit an electric motor to a mattress, fit some pedals and then drive my mattress to work on the road.

its different laws for mobility scooters, they have different classes and i think only one can ride on the road but not dual carriageways.

you cant just fit electric motors to things and ride them on the roads willy nilly.

Even the 'hoover' the street sweeper uses near me is taxed and has a number plate. You can't even get on it and drive it about

Because of the weight/power.

Like I said above, under 60kg weight and 250w motor is the limit for trikes. not sure about 4 wheeled frame

to be fair it does say you can use a mobility scooter on a a dual carriageway but not to if over 50mph

reading whats required i dont think you can compare a home made go kart to a mobility scooter though

I can see where your coming from. BUT, i cant see it working because you cant even use a Segway on a public road/pavement in the UK (which i find ridiculous)

I just read that it would need manufactures plate and battery ratings to be "road - legal".

Basically answered my own question now.

My mate got banned for driving for 3 years when he was caught driving a golf buggy. He was drunk, but that didn't even come up in court.

So yeah, same boat.

What about a segway or electric scooter though?

Im not trolling or being a prick btw. Im generally interested to the reasoning behind allowing a old disabled person being in control of a electric vehicle but not an abled body person.

Unless its 'Class 3' is dnt even need to be registered with the DVLA

Yes.

And can only be driven my someone disabled etc.

Only bway you'd get away with is is to knock about on the pavement in a class 2 (4mph Max hardly seems worth it)

so in summary you cant just fit a motor to a go kart, get battery ratings and a manufacturer plate and drive it on the road
