www.digitalmusician.net or www.source-elements.com for live collab; both either Rewire or you have VST/AU/RTAS plugins. Extremely useful for remote jams since the Rocket Network is no more.

I could play one of those things that I NEVER got a turn of in primary school when it was getting passed around
It has a handle and a big top with metal beads all around it and you twist it in your hand! Be fucked if I know the name

I can slappa da bass.
Can you actually?
Nearly got a full band it would seem.
2 keyboard players, a few guitarists, some singers, Kerry singing and dancing.
Just gotta come up with a set list of some cheesy classics.
EDIT - oh, and Sam on the lap steel
I heard Steve can bust some moves too.

Anyone fancies a virtual jam, then grab a copy of Reaper (can be had for both Windows/OSX) and use the Ninjam network. Pee'd around on it last night and ended up having a few decent 'jams'

There's a chat box but that's about as similar it gets
You setup a few channels from your DAW to 'transmit' and join one of the public 'channels' (or setup a server for others to join); and then you jam. It's essentially what was the Rocket Network, which was one of the first internet based collab tools before you had Avid efforts. Although the audio is no where near what you'd get with Avid, as it uses OGG for the streaming nor is it as polished as digital musician or as source elements; but for free it's pretty decent.
Easiest way is to use the >Reaper< DAW, which is rather horrible but you can rewire or use the inbuilt virtual ASIO router to route from your fav. DAW, and use the inbuilt Ninjam client (shown here).
Otherwise you use the Ninjam Client but routing can be a pain unless your ASIO drivers support it; or you physically route it externally (got rid of most of my gear hence using Reaper).
Edit - This is what went down after i left.

Not sure how considering that's how a lot of projects are done ie: without everyone being in the same physical studio
