internet is a weird place, its too common these days, gotta be careful what you link from other sites etc
dodgy enough having your real name as a username imo
Seems a geniune message though, maybe a bit bad/early timing.
unless its cole from the clique mob, who has a list of people whom recently left this earth and is trying to steal his identity.
I would discuss it with family before saying anything back

as you said, talk to your perents, but if they say yes, request that the guy sends you a copy of the story for you to read before printing?

Send them a picture of someone else.
Would your brother find that funny?
What would he do/want?

Not really sure if articles to raise awareness for cycle safety are likely to fall under that stereotype TBH.

Seems legit, they have already added him to a list.

January 25 - Lee Anthony Davison, 31, was killed in Washington in Tyne & Wear on January 25 in a crash with a car as it overtook him.
Seems they are trying to raise awareness.

Very unlikely you'll get any editorial control over what is written. Once you agree you have blind trust that the story will come out well.

The Times is running a major campaign on it.

Course they are. All it will be is a bit of info on who he was, what he did and how it happened, like with the other articles.
Obviously its John & families decision, but this isn't a dodgy journo who's going to twist a story! Theres alot of campaigns atm about safety for cyclists etc. Quite rightly. They are just trying to highlight how many have been/are killed.

Oh FFS.
What are they going to twist? That John's brother was actually a terrorist and was killed by the SAS in a planned hit made to look like an accident?

They are the Times, don't think they need to bug people if they wanted to run a campaign on cycle saftey, they could print something in their paper everyday to get people aware of it.
Contacting people who have lost loved ones I think is pretty insensitive, I always feel now that they just do it for themself really, more about making awareness just to they can climb the careers ladder

The press do this sort of thing on PPRuNE - the general rule of thumb there is to not co-operate as they tend to make up a load of crap making the subject of the story look a twat.

I would have no problem letting them have pics/info.
They are clearly trying to raise awareness. I would do everything i could to help raise awareness, so that even if it saved the life of one person, id have saved the stress and sad times that that persons family would have to go through.
I can understand they could do it without pics/writting about lee, but when stories show real life instances and how family members feel after events etc, it brings things alot closer to home, and make you stop and think for at least a split second.
Obviously, it for you and your family to discuss and have your own opinions on.
As said before, thoughts are with you guys at this time.

This. They are raising awareness about cycle safety. They aren't questioning a witness to 9/11? What possible spin could they put on it for fuck sake?
