I would wax over it, not polish it, your only going to be wasting your time as
A) polishing won't give it much protection at all, maybe a couple. of weeks worth.
B) the paintwork is tatty so don't waste time slightly cutting when your not bothered about it.

Get some cheap wax to throw on it. I would ask the supplier if there's any reason why you can't wax it straight away.
