I think id take the Caymen over a 15K 996
same here.
I would however never own a boxster.
Yet you own an Astra?!
Wtf has me owning an Astra have anything to do with whether I like boxsters or not.
What an idiotic comment.

Would own a Cayman in a heartbeat. In fact I would own a Boxster as well, the poor mans Porsche comments are stupid.

Anyone who says Boxters are 'Gay' etc knows jack all about cars TBH the early 2.5's were awful but they are the ultimate drivers car plus I'd happily own a new Boxster S over a 991.

It's because of the stigma 'can't you afford a proper Porsche ' or 'poor mans porsche' either way only Porsche I would consider buying is a 997

Nail on the head, only one I would have is a 997 or (I hope and pray for a euromillions win) a 959 but thats a dream. The specs are too obvious that its a Porsche for people who can afford more than a Boxster but not a 911, everything spec wise is exactly in the middle, i think TopGear had that fact on their review too. Either go hard or go home when it comes to a porsche, might as well buy a M3, at least that is the best in its class.

going by your thought process, would you only buy the top of the range model of every marque?
what do you drive at the moment?
fact of the matter is that people who say a boxster is a poor mans porsche is a stereotypical prick who needs to get his brain checked.
usual culprits are people who drive small hatchbacks or mondeos.
