As soon as I hear about this I thought of the alien ships that were buried beneath the earth in War of the Worlds!

Pretty cool that they are still there and coming back.

40ft; they were originally looking at a depth of 20ft, but the trenches were dug in bomb craters that were already 20ft deep.
