Good news but cant really agree with brining it in mid-season, little unfair on clubs who are hit by the wrong decision in the earlier part. got to be from start of next season IMO. However, how do you deal with promotions and relegations a- presumably relegated clubs just switch it off?

Surely as long as you added it when all teams had played the same number of games then thats fine. They will all have played X games and had the same chance of a bad/good decision. Otherwise how long do you wait. Someone might get a bad decision the first match and not get a good one till 2 seasons later.
The silly part is each competition decides what to use so Champions league might use a different system to the premiership....or even worse if Platini has his ways we won't have anything in the CL as he doesn't like it.
I think Hawk Eye can add more enjoyment at the stadiums / on TV due to the replays. Obviously if its not over the line the game will go on but the TV can show how close was it etc. With the chip in ball there is none of that at the moment.

They won't be showing anything to the crowds at all, it's all going straight to the ref.
And it won't be minutes of nothing happening whilst they watch a replay either, the whole point of the FIFA tests was that the referee gets an answer within 10 seconds.
And ffs, as if football needs to be made "more exciting" by watching an animation

With one method the ref knows within 1 second as he has a special watch which will display the info.

both methods HAD to be within 1 second, and are. works via a flashing and vibrating wristwatch worn by referee and 4th official (per SSN last night)

Six nations England Wales game would suggest otherwise. And if the ball is fully covered then Hawk Eye is next to useless (why it works well in sports like Snooker and Cricket). So GoalRef is likely to be the better and more accurate of the two. Saying that, one of the main 'advantages' of Hawk Eye is that they're able to display generate graphics of the tracked/predicted flight path of the ball to the punters at home/big-screens. And i can see them going for Hawk Eye purely on that basis alone.

My comments about replays are in regards to the TV broadcast where instead of showing the same thing over and over and over again and still not knowing they will show an animation

The punters at home will not get access to the Hawkeye stuff. And why would we want to see the projected route ofa ball anyway?

To start with they will get access to the replays after the match, but they have said its expected it will be available like it is in other sports during the game
For football its not the projection replays, its whether it was over the line which I would rather see than 10 replays of the same thing which doesn't actually give the answer.
That said it could be used to make the stats such as on/off target more accurate but i don't think there is any expectation of that at the moment.
Both systems has flaws. When the ball is deformed the accuracy of the chip in ball is lessened.
