If you've got the space, you can make an oven using some Kingspan insulation foam (the foil coated stuff) and some kind of heater. It's what we used to use when moulding pre-preg carbon fiber.

Think it did over that to cure the resin. Will check out the heater tomorrow - was an electric fan type thing with ducting going into the oven. It's all been transferred over to the new oven now which uses the same insulation but has a metal frame and other stuff.

You'll probably want a thermometer too, but you can get multimeters with temp probes that attach to them.

Why not just buy this kit

http://www.plastics4performance.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=0&P_ID=398&strPageHistory=search&numSearchStartRecord=1

Alot of hassle when the kit ready made isn't even much and IMO it'll look alot neater than a DIY effort

You won't be able to make the sliders as neat though surely? If you think you can then fair play but after seeing my mates on his Golf recently I was impressed

Steve - LuckyB/Dave Paterson did this on his 106 from memory. Maybe ask him if you have any Q's. He used a bodyshop oven.

The P4P kit is good but £300 + VAT is loads considering the price of Lexan and some handywork.

Plus he likes to dabble

I'm watching this with interest, I wouldn't even mind making something to heat it. Did have that hog roast oven would have been perfect but that is sold now. Only needs to be an insulated box just a bit bigger.

Steve.... where did you get the lexan from?

I have some rear 1/4s to make and possibly the rear screen.

Will just use P4P to get a the formed from doors as they are frameless

Might do if you concentrate it and just want a seam fold but no good for the entire window.

I guess its fairly well insulated, ie. if you heat gun one side you can still touch the other?

Fancy coming round to mine, and clean my oven?

Looks like it's never been used for food.

Tbh I think you would struggle at a powder coaters oven. They done really lay things down in there.

But if it's flexi enough when you heat it. Wouldn't it mould to the shape of the glass and then cool in place?
