Can someone list budget components I need to buy to run this at medium settings? I'm more than capable of putting it all together just the last time I was shit hot at the latest components was 5 years ago!

Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 260 or ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 or better
That's the recommended system, which is pretty low apart from the GPU, most of gaming is done by the CPU anyway, can't see how running a 4870 with a 2.4ghz duo would be any good.
Basically just build a basic computer for today's market.

Don't build your pc to run D3, that required spec is very low in terms of a up to date pc and it wont run much else on a high standard or without lag on multi player games.

Chris, how did you get through without dying many times?
I've died countless times from lag. My character pretty much drops dead in an open space with no enemies near me

Currently im at act 1 on nightmare difficulty with a hardcore character and boy is it hard!
I died with a level 15 barb on hardcore as i got pinned between some mobs in a corner with no means to escape.. so i lost 3 hours and had to start all over again.
Now im at a level 34 barb on hardcore and i started using the demon hunter who is quite cool.

Still not sure if its worth spending £330 + the price of the game to play this...I really want them to announce a console version I know if I take the plunge with the hardware the next day they will announce something, it always happens
Current spec list:
HIS HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card
Intel Pentium G840 2.8GHz Socket 1155 3MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
ASRock H61M-VS Socket 1155 VGA 5.1 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard
G Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333mhz Ripjaws Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V
Coolermaster Silent Pro 500W Modular PSU
Anyone comment on this spec? Bearing in mind I'm still using a Sempron 2800+ (1.6ghz single core ), 2gb DDR1 ram and a Geforce 6800LE which I have overclocked to the max to eeek it out how long would the above set up last me?
Current PC cannot do iPlayer anymore since the browsers and Adobe keep getting more powerful

Well if you want a top spec PC then get an Intel, if you want some cheaper but would like something decent then I say get a AMD.
Phenom II X4 965 for example. 3.6 ghz and 6mb cache. £80
The good thing with your CPU is the socket type, can be upgraded at a later date but that spec is let down I feel by the CPU, dual core 2.8 ghz and 3mb cache, I might be totally wrong.
CPU still does something like 85% of the job when it comes to gaming.
I think the other stuff listed is okay really, the GPU will do the job at a decent level.
Just seems the Dual core makes it look like it's straight out of 2006.
I talk crap most of the time anyway, do some research.

Well I've researched all the usual places TomsHardware etc, but I have a really tight budget and cant scrimp on the GPU which is why I've gone for the 6850. As my current PC is a dog I can only use nominal bits like HD, DVDRW, the case etc, all the proper, expensive components need doing. The G840 is like you say the best current Intel socket for future proofing, its cheap (the I3-2100 which is the next step up is another £30/£40, puts it out my budget) and there is plenty of RAM and a decent PSU in that set up. This isnt for hardcore games like BF3, I have the Xbox for that, this PC will basically be an office PC with a bit of graphics intensive application such as Diablo 3.
Again, bear in mind I am used to a single core 1.6ghz, the step up for me is going to be immense anyway, and if I can help it I will be staying on XP so quad core wont make a jot of difference anyway I dont think...

Meh, too late I placed the order at 930
This will do me fine, I spent a good hour or so researching the ATi cards and figuring out how the naming conventions work, I couldnt be bothered to look at the Nvidia side as well. Looking forward to playing this

You didn't buy a Nvidia ! PC Elites will shun you away.
Hope it all works out okay then.
