Only if it was an absolute last resort.

I think of it as, I want to live in a nice, quiet and peaceful area and then ignore things like this, then the place will never get better, so I would kind of be adding to the problem.

I wouldn't be a pussy. I'd both help and call the police. I ran down the road once because I heard screaming.... Turned out to be mating foxes

I was the one who phoned the police, then got beaten up anyway and when the police turned up thy kept telling me that if I gave a specific name that thu kept repeating then they'd be able to arrest him but I didn't know who had done it and nor did I know the name the police kept tellin me to say. For that reason I'm out on getting involved, I'd probably call the police but I'd not be interested in taking another kicking

I've stepped in before many years ago when someone was getting their head kicked in outside a pub, and ended up taking a few hits too. But that wouldn't stop me doing it again if someone was in serious danger.

I would of called the pigs. I've had a kicking from a bunch of guys. Wasn't nice, and did a bit of mental damage.

I've had a serious kicking, was completely steaming, was probably my fault, just wanted to forget all about it.
Was dragged to court miles away twice, just to give the guys a good look at me, they didn't turn up twice and it was dropped. Great.

Just because I'm not clear - if the lad was running and shouting help, was he not well clear of your house by the time you could have gone out?
Or was he in the process of being beaten up?

it was happening at the top of the road. it's a very small road and i'm number 9 so 5 houses into the road. it's also very quiet so you'd hear it whether it was 5 or 50 yards away.
i didn't see where he was or what was happening. i heard him shout help and that's it. the other half was the one doing the curtain twitching and saw a group of lads chasing 1 guy.
when i pulled into my road i did see a bunch of lads standing around in a group. i took no notice of it as no. 4 was having a party.

my problem is, someone called the police on me when i had a row with the other half and had a rage fit. chucked a few plates around as i was pissed off and got arrested.
they cautioned me for criminal damage even though it was my own property and said if i didn't accept the caution then i would end up going to court.
i wasn't being a cunt, accepted it and just got on with my life.
since then, i have no respect for police and think they're all power mad cunts intent on fucking people over.
Im sorry but Criminal damage for smashing YOUR plates in YOUR house

I once called the police because of one of the neighbours. She was having some kind of party and they were all on drugs. It got out of hand and they were charging up the street with metal poles and hitting metal fencing round peoples gardens. There are a lot of older people who live on my road which is why I called the police. Police arrived, bag of drugs comes out of the bathroom window, police slap their hands and then leave.
Just thought why did I bother...
