Z22SE is all alloy is it not?? Not just the block.
Good engines too. Apart from the timing chain issue's but thats easy sorted. Sound awesome aswell, quite a unique engine note.

yeah all ally castings. only issue with timing chains is lack of oil changes and wrong/cheep oil! the spary jet has been updated to. and oil pumps. great sound under load! want to build one on bodies but sooooooooooo expensive to get good power so going to turbo it!

Yes they fit in the B, there 1 with a courteney supercharger kit on it. all custom mounts with that 1 though. the B is slightly wider between the chassis legs and doesnt have the subframe to get in the way. Ive used astra mount on os engine, and corsa f23 gear box mounts with the uprated rubber from the astra vxr vibra technics at the front. need to get astra or corsa f23 box realy to use ns mount. no lugs on the vectras f23 for it. used vectra os drive shaft and corsa b 2.0l ns shaft.

How much do courtney charge for the supercharger kit? Would be a rapid motor with one of them!

Super charger kits start form £5k, wouldnt fit the corsas without a large power bulge in bonnet. the B ive seen has been featured a few years back in total vauxhall. Ive looked at differant ways to increase z22se power and the turbo is getting my vote.

Can S/C a Z22SE for alot less than £5k.
Get a charger from the states. Think its an LSJ unit from a Chevy Cobalt. Need a few other bits too like inlet etc, but would still have plenty change from £5k.
Think ive heard numbers around £2k ish all in.

Is there much performance gain from adding a supercharger, rather than a turbo?

Base s/c kit only takes z22se to around 200bhp, £5k takes power to around 230/240bhp, with turbo £5k will get to around 280bhp, but for £8k up to 380bhp, complete rebuild of engine required over 250bhp if you want long reliable service life. Saab boys run high 300's with some over 600 in road legal form, in usa they push the engine to well over 1000bhp! when you start looking into it its strange why nobody bothers with it in uk in vauxhalls???? It fits corsa B & C

z20net is turbo version in saab's and vectra's and can pick up bare engines for £500-£700
