Now running smoothly on both '08 2.53 GHz C2D as well as '11 i7 MBP.

The i7 came from Lion, so it really doesn't feel much different other than the few new features.
2.53 was running 10.6.8 and even though it's SSD it actually feels a bit more snappy on application launch.
Though InDesign somehow feels more sluggish on big documents, but then, it's gone from terrible to a bit worse, so might just be my ticket to a better spec.

Startup time of 10.8 is still not as good as 10.6. Don't know what they did back then, that they can't redo...

And a smaller feature:
LOVING the look of the new dock. Much smoother than previously and the open app indicator is way better.
Will be the first time I'm not replacing the standard dock.

Another new "feature":
To remove bundled apps, like Launchpad and Dashboard, from the dock you now have to drag them half way across the screen or they zoom right back.
Other apps also needs to be moved a bit of distance (say 2 times icon size) to not zoom back.
I think on 10.7 you just dragged them off the dock.

Toying around with dictation, and it really is pretty worthless as
a) You'll have to read through your text for errors and correct them manually and
b) It can only take a rather small amount of text before it stops.

From Apple.com:

Talk anywhere you can type
OS X now supports Dictation. So wherever you can type, you can use your voice instead. Just select a text field and turn Dictation on. Use the keyboard shortcut — press the Function key twice — or choose Dictation from the Edit menu in any app. When you’re finished speaking, click Done. Dictation converts your words into text.

And read out loud and dictated:

I read a rumour that the OSX software will (by default), only allow you to install software distributed via the OSX web app store, however you can modify this setting.

Can anyone confirm?

Both senior managers at Valve and Blizzard entertainment have been voicing concerns over windows 8, which I think is probably part of the same thing.
If Microsoft is to launch its own app store, its going to directly compete with the Steam app store and Microsoft may even eventually lock down the system some more.

By default it allows installation of software from the Mac App Store and "identified developers". Who these are, I do not know.

However, if you choose an "unidentified" third party source you will just receive the "this software is from an unknown source, will you proceed?" warning.

Still, I've just changed the setting to "All sources" in the security settings.

Regarding the competition, that's already happening on the Mac with Steam and the App Store having a lot of games in common. However, Steam is often cheaper.

Yep, well aware of that, I was talking about Windows8 though.

Upgraded last night, Like the notes app, will be using that daily, i like the fact i can drag email sinto the notes and it links to them (i know it was possible with other apps but notes works better imo)

only thing i dislike at the mo is the dock indicator light is very hard to see.

I like the new indicator, very subtle.

However, I stumbled upon this in a review:

That's not how mine look...!?

Yes, I did the same. I think the contrast has been raised in the above picture, as mine seem more like a solid grey, though upon closer inspection, they do have a slight glow.

Might toy around with designing a new indicator...

Pretty undecided. Think I'll run one of each and see which I prefer in time...

Drew them in Photoshop and replaced the dock indicator files...

Just go>
System/Library/CoreServices...

Find 'Dock', right click and show content >
Contents/Resources...

Replace what ever files you want to change with new files of same size.

If you want to try the arrows, get them here:

Remember to back up old files before replacing. I just renamed the originals.

Oh, and afterward open Terminal and type 'killall Dock' to relaunch Dock.app. Upper case D is important.

I spent a whole day at work on monday racking my brains and trying to figure out why my CSS backgrounds where not matching up with jpeg's (in HTML email templates) i even started questioning the colour profiles in Adobe.

Turns out this latests version of Safari has colour issues with matching images to colour profiles.

Right I have bought it. It's downloading as we speak.

What extra does it do? I just felt I had to buy it to stay up to date
