Citroen C2, Bought new in nov 08, now on 92k

Turbo ate itself @ 30k - PSA changed the service interval schedule which has resolved (was 12k for oil, now 9k but I change every 6~7)
Hydraulic pipe to the slave cylinder wore through at 56k due to it rubbing a water pipe
Clutch and DMF went at 81k

2007 Fiesta ST. 67K

Current problems:
Wierd issue with the coilovers being different height but allignment is fine and dirves great.

Previous issues (last 3 years and 45k):
Waterpump
Niggly bits like rattles (doesnt help with the current suspension set up).

Had to replace some consumables such as topmounts, pads and discs, flush power steering fluid etc but its been pretty reliable.

Corsa b 1.4 sport - 82/3k miles

Head gasket went, changed the cambelt etc at the same time. EGR valve went kaput, that's now blanked off.

It now needs a new air con pump, but I'm not spending £300 on something that doesn't get used on a car thats worth at most £1000, so it's staying how it is.

I bought a 1litre corsa b as my first car in jan 2006, it was a 1997 model. It had done 33k when i bought it. I raplaced the clutch, most of the sensors and the back end after a crash. I never really looked after it service wise as i was young and stupid. Which later cost me when the engine blew up. It lasted 9 months and 20k of hard abuse and no looking after at all, so i cant fault it to be honest as it was all my fault. If i had looked after it i recon it would still be going today.

Why is it so many people jump on the you must replace a chain after 100k wagon? Why? if the enigne isnt abused and is looked after whats the problem with changing it when it gets noisy? Have you ever heard of a chain snapping?

2001 Astra 2.0DTi, SXi spec

Bought in May 2009 for £2000, 80k on the clock, came with a 1.6i handbook, not dodgy at all

In 30k / 3 years its had:

5 oil + filter changes
1 fuel filter
1 air filter
2 tyres
Replaced original mid-section and backbox of the exhaust, the original was hanging on with a bungee cord
Replaced original front + rear discs and pads
Replaced original front wiper motor
Various bulbs

Overall, a very reliable car considering the only thing I proactively keep on top of is oil changes, everything gets fixed as and when it needs it

I had a chain driven Primera on 160k, original chain, rattled a bit but it was sound. My brother had a Primera too, 150kish, chain rattled like a kid with a set of keys, it still got cained everywhere by myself with nae issues.

Current vehicle is a Combo 1.3, it'll be on 94k by the end of the week. I've had it since 57k, it's had an injector, a clutch, the DPF blocked up and the engine man light keeps showing it's face again recently, should find out tomorrow what that is.

The clutch and DPF where down to the previous owner's driving so I wouldn't really count them as faults.

1997 CORSA.

No problems until decided to do engine change,

only ever failed on one bit o welding MOT wise. Gets serviced every 3k miles though

After initial engine problems, its now a pretty reliable car. If you do things like engine changes you have to expect problems though

About to do mine for the 1st time, if I had listened to internet I would be doing it for the 2nd time.

Quite a big cost as well, especially if you pay someone to do it for you.

Also its not so much the chains that snap, its the tensioners that wear out.

Yes it is but usually its down to owner ignorance more than anything else because the noise does'nt just appear overnight it usually will gradually get worse
