I'd vote ST but they are not economical.

Scoobies get tiresome imho. They are brilliant when being used flat out and are pretty much point and squirt.
The mechanical nature of the drive, the dreadful fuel consumption and the constant 'wrong' attention from other road users gets a bit tiresome when they are used as a daily.
I quite like the idea of the MPS for the Q car factor or a Mk5 Golf Gti.
The silver parts and bright paint jobs on the ST's make them look a bit gash IMO. If I were 21 I would love them alas I am not and I do not.
VXR looks the tits imho and for this reason its not subtle enough. Funny how things change when you become an old barstad.

Well said SetH the VXR seems to be decent on fuel also from what I've read.

Another vote for the ST here. I loved mine and with a Dreamscience remap and a stainless exhaust it was even better. I agree they are not at their true potential from standard, but I can understand why Ford did it, as the standard clutch didn't always agree with the amount of torque from mine once remapped. The boot is massive, something I miss at times now I've got the 1 Series!

but you don't have a kid graham for corsa nut, it's perfect.
vxr - no, only 3 doors.
mazda - no, even worse on fuel than the st and parts are costly.
focus - 5 doors, huge boot, not great on fuel economy although better than the 3 mps, parts are cheap being mostly volvo/ford parts bin stuff.

Mazda 3 is exactly the same platform as an ST, but faster, handles better and has a better interior, BOSE sound system, 6 CD changer, 6 cup holders and I bet the Mazda is better on fuel, I averaged 28 mostly and I drove like a penis at times, best I saw was 44mpg on a run to Nurburgring, LSD standard, beats the Focus ST by miles IMO

Thing is though it will be rare that the baby comes in mine so 3 door wouldn't be SO bad. Can't get the image out of my head of an Arden Blue VXR with polished 19's sitting on the drive.
Anyone wanna buy a cheap RB5?

That's interesting about the MPG Graham thanks for the input. These MPS's are a bit thin on the ground aren't they? strangely the red seems to be the most desirable colour which I'd have.

There bloody expensive for tax tho.
If a 3dr isn't an issue then out of those 3 it would be the vxr.

Blue VXR, on 18" snowflakes...
I think the 19s look aweful.
Enquired at my local Vaux dealer today.. They can get me an 08 Arden Blue VXR on 18's with the light and sight pack 28kmiles for £9800.

I hate the look of the 18s lol. It looks like they've came off of a lower spec model.

Just bought myself an MPS...
fantastic car,
solid, handles nicely, torque is amazing
I've put a hypertech on it to remove the torque restriction and its even better now

Well there wasn't that many to start with, and there's a new model so they're only going to get rarer! Which does mean parts prices aren't ever going to drop unfortunately.
I do think you should drive all 3 as close to back to back as you can, I would bet you'd like the MPS the most. It just drives so much nicer out of the box than the other 2, and a big part of that is thanks to the diff, it transforms the car, plus it's 31bhp more than the ST and 16bhp more than the VXR (240 aren't they?) although the VXR is lighter.
