Steve, I'll bring my Missus one out and we'll have a race.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be close, but I don't believe that it was noticeabley slower than yours.

people forget that mine only weighs 830kgs its not just "had some back seats removed" and has a very close ratio box
Do you believe that a very close ratio gearbox will always make you quicker?

As a Puma owner I have to say
I'm not arsed about hearing about Pumas in a Mini thread.

I use Total Mini, don't really go on very often though.
Tried Mini2 and the moderators on there are ridiculous. Posted photos of my car linked from my CS garage and got told I wasn't allowed to do that, I had to upload them as attachment. So I told them to GTF, deleted the thread and haven't been on since.

i dont know what peoples issue with what i said was, my car has a higher bhp per ton, wheres the unreasonable logic?
The only reasonable argument iv had was based on torque, which the mini does have more of, but as already stated in a light car like mine torque wont make much more for a difference
it may have been as ojc said a longer geard one i have no idea, but i have just been driving the puma around all evening and it flies i think most of you would be surprised how quick it is, for what it is.
End of the day i merely made a fleeting comment, but as usual people are so desperate for my car to be shit and no good at anything have argued about it until its turned into a massive debate and problem. Sit back and think about the figures and save yourself some stress

I've got almost a whole lap on you tube of me following you and trying to keep up, catching up and you pulling away in the mini at nurburgring.
Much faster than some crappy old 90's hatchback.

Id like to know your reasoned argument though as to why car A cannot be faster than car B when it has more bhp per tonne and works on a principle of being light where torque doesn't have much impact and has a much shorter box

Why did you ignore my comment about gearboxes? If two cars are identical except one has a shorter ratio gearbox, you think it'll always win? Just like you are waving about bhp per tonne like its the be all and end all

What other variables are there then? Torque? We have discussed that, and yes two identical cars the one with the closer box will accelerate faster. So I'm still waiting to hear why the mini has to be faster? The answer is already in this thread, stu said it, "a 90s crappy hatchback" that's all that is going through your heads rather then looking at the facts your simple minds are overruling your logic

Jesus fuck How can I put this in a way that you can comprehend as obviously you're the one not looking at all variables.
An example from ek9.org where a guy expected to be faster because he had a closer ratio gearbox but wasn't, was due to the ratios. If you have a gearbox that's too close then you'll lose all advantage in gear changes.
Edit: to expand; yes you will technically accelerate faster, but if you have to change gear 5 times compared to 3 times on another car, the advantage is wasted.
