You'll have to suction mount the phone somewhere to record a video though?
Just looked at the app, looks really good.

I have a fixed mount on the cage that can hold a phone. Most tracks in uk won't let you suction mount a phone somewhere

i personally wouldn't use the phone for video with the likes of GoPro or drifts on the market. Much better quality of video.
I'd use the phone simply to track you.

GoPro is in HD 1080p, iPhone doesn't shoot true HD... If you want to have footage people will enjoy watching then why compromise?

I just think using the iPhone with this app is just easier, it's all combined for recording videos etc.
It's good quality that you can watch with ease.
Can start spending £££ with go pro's,
If you take quality serious and using it more than just recording yourself then fair enough. But otherwise, I think the phone is fine to video with

Because the iPhone is fine quality for videos from around the track it's not a high quality film. I have 2 go pros and the iPhone use the iPhone all the time now.
It's personal preference at the end of the day. 720 does fine for wacking it on a tv or uploading to YouTube.

You'd also need a cheapo plx wifi dongle to do other bits too.
If you haven't sorted it by mallory I'll show you what it can do

Mine has been fine although I agree with the point about getting footage straight out of the phone, that's a big plus.

Camera wise, there are cheaper options that the GoPro
2 friends use Veho Muvis in their race cars, you get a little remote so you can turn it on just before the race starts, instead of wasting battery and memory on footage you dont want, which gives you footage like this http://youtu.be/jLp8aw-3m_s
I use some cheap JVC HD camcorders which I bought used from ebay (2 for £50), with a mount which I screwed on to the dash (no cage to mount it to yet) which gives videos like this http://youtu.be/oQjVcJsNhgI
