Baptism isn't so much being thrust into a religion at birth, it's more to do with being "cleansed" and given a clean slate - there's nothing stopping a christened child from choosing their own path in the future.

Do you follow the Christian model for requirements of a godparent?

1. Pray for your godchild regularly
2. Set an example of Christian living
3. Help him/her to grow in the faith of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
4. Give every encouragement to follow Christ and fight against evil

No i'm guessing.......what a pantomime it all is! I just cant take it seriously!!

In a real and modern world the Godparents are normally someone extenal to the family who pledge to look after the child if anything happens to the parents.

I would have my child christened even though I never go to church.

Why has the man got to give in to keep the woman happy against his belief
Why not the women respect the mans belief and compromise?

And yes I did just say that

No, I don't do any of those things... but I'm not particularly offended by the facade of the ceremony and carry-on, because I know it means a lot to the grandparents.

If the children choose a path of Christianity, I'll support them and help them where possible and relevant - but I won't be doing anything proactively.

I did enjoy a little singsong with the hymnbook though

Total waste of time then, ive got a legal document in the form of a will that stipulates what should happen in that scenario.

I love the fact you'd rather kick up a fuss about something that, once the day is over, will have no affect on your life, and prefer instead to potentially cause a fight between your family.

In my experience Christianity is nothing more than a load of made up stories and old people going for a sunday chat.

All this danger crap your coming out with is a bit out of proportion tbh.

Steve will say something along the lines of drop kicking her in to the middle of next week to show her who is the boss in the relationship.
