i think johns mate taylor said he paid £1700 to get his fixed.

how do you make sure it hasn't cracked or isn't going to in the near future?

I have known lots of m3 owners and only one had the subframe issue. When I worked at my last place we did 330's and 325's with subframe cracks. Never any m3's. it's really not as common as you think.

And yes if it doesn't feel fast you're doing it wrong.
I may buy another as a second car.

Test drove an SMG one, awesome cars

If people are worried about problems then you'd get it from a dealer or just buy a warranty surely?

As a road car, the performance is wasted IMO.

"johns" did have cracks..

He had two options:
A. Pay redish motorsport £900 to weld the cracks and add support plates - obviously though as the metal is fatigued enough to crack this is a bit shit imo

B. as his car was just under the 10 year cut off, try and get BMW to pay - this involves a thicker and reinforced panel replacing the old one and then filled with resin, it has a full 3 year gaurentee

So he tried opption b, to which BMW said as he did not have full dealer history they would pay £2900 and he would have to pay £1500. He then paid £200 for some bits and bobs done while it was in.

Lots get it repaired free, some have to contribute, some don't get anything.

Worth me paying just short of £1500 to insure one of these early next year? I'd love one like Graham88's!

What he said as an out of the box car, they are superb. But yeah they don't feel fast, but they're so nice to drive and for me using mine on track, it's ridiculously good at what it does

As for not feeling fast I didn't really push it! Tbh my astra felt quicker but that's the way I drive my astra and the way the power is delivered giving it the sensation of feeling faster but the m3 would wipe the floor with it!

But then I suppose if you come from a small car it might not have the same speed sensation. Plus it's balanced and has a huge amount of rubber on the road do it doesn't get unsettled easily meaning it feels quite safe as such.

Glad you liked it, you'd beat it up hill tho

They dont feel fast, they are heavy and smooth so dont have a great speed sensation compared to alot of cars - license losing fast tbh

Should probably add ive got 2 of them, not just going from what my mates dads pet dogs mate has told me

I'm not against them as such, I'm just not one of those people that think they are the best cars on 4 wheels. I just think there are better cars out there for the same money that's all.
