Surely you need to sleep during the day though?

I work the normal 9-5 job and i try not to stay awake past. 10. I need at least 8 hours or ill be tired the next day.

It completely depends on the rota and your social agenda whether nightshifts will work out well.

Personally I'd do nights all he time if I could as I work away from home so it is in different except quieter and here's an up lift in money.

It does depend on what everyone around you does. If it fit's into your lifestyle then obviously it's better.

The thought of working nights does have its appeal.

No traffic
Frees up at least part of the day time (albeit after you have slept)
More money etc etc.

depends on the hours of work

I do 5 nights a week, starting at 7:15 and finish around 8 so I am hitting some bad traffic at times

on a friday i start at 5:15 and the traffic is horrendous, ive had to alter my route for fridays

. My hours would be from midnight to 7am, 5 days a week so not too bad tbf. Think I might give it a go pending on a phone call tomorrow confirming a few more things

I know so many people who do this, otherwise you can't pick it up if you miss it, and then because your at work the Post Office is shut when you get home! Not for me :-)

And I have a minimum of 7 hours sleep, mostly 8-9 depends if I want to get stuff done. Or the lazy days where I think sod it and just won't get out of bed until the missus comes home.

The crucial difference for me is that you wake up a few hours before you go to work and go straight to bed when you finish.

That's a completely different way of life to setting an alarm and rushing around to get there.

When I'm working nights I do 7pm - 7am, in bed for 8 and up again at 1pm. Get plenty of time to do what I want!

I work 3 shifts and fucking hate nights, don't get to see the Mrs and it messes the weekend up big time for me. Wish I could do 9-5.

I once did a month of nights 11pm - 7am. Was alright. Not sure i'd want to do it permanently.

Thats the only bonus to it. My work days are literally work sleep work sleep. No time for socialising.

Imo you can only class it as a night shift if you see or work through a sunrise in summer.

I agree with Ben I wouldn't call that a proper night shift, I'd class that as proper wank hours
