Ah ha. So it's a timing issue.
The name made me think it might have been transaxle related at first, but now it's obvious that it's engine orientated.
Not good. Not good at all.
Big bad boo boo on Porsche's part and worse still for not owning up to it. Very poor show.
I wonder if oil quality and replacement frequency has anything to do with it, or if it's just a cheap shit undersized bearing they sourced and just needs to be replaced/checked at intervals.

Is it an engine out job for 99% of engine related stuff??

Not from what I can see, looks amazingly easy to maintain actually. There's just about no access from the top, as long as you can get under it you can do just about anything.

what happened to the front plate, john?

It had a private plate on it and when he's ripped it off he's both broken the mount and not had any sticky bits to put the old one back on.
I've got a mount coming and my own plate will go on properly asap anyway.

Nice - I like it more than I thought I would. Still don't like wheels with thin spokes though, but they look alright on that.

I thought this was going to be something a bit random like that Saab you had, didn't expect you to buy a Porsche

Someone here bought one before ed tho, it's the current CS trend, Porsche's and M3s.

Seeing eds post certainly didn't put me off anyway.
I looked at M3's but they just don't do it for me.

986 is ugly as sin in my opinion.
I sold my 987 'S' last weekend to a chap from Cardiff. Basically gave it away

I'd have loved a 987 but I didn't have double the money.

I love the 996 myself, far more of a classic shape.

I love this shape, reminds me of playing Porsche Challenge on the PS2 in my pants.
Those are the best wheels as well imo, black one I looked at had them in anthracite and they set the car off.
