You'd call the police and have them recover it surely ?

He could've started by going to the nearest farm, if it wasn't their land then I bet they would be able to point him in the right direction or even help him out so he could get back on the road.
My mate stuck his car in a field before and destroyed the fence. Waited there for the car to get recovered then went and told my dad and asked who's land it was so he could go explain

I'd of done same, what would of happened if he'd of damaged fence but car could drive away, I bet he would fuck off and leave farmer to fix it. Now farmer has to repair it and if he didn't like £250 bill he should of gone down straight away and repaired it. An totally on farmers side

I think the farmer has over-reacted somewhat. Yes, by all means remove the car and repair the fence, then charge for damages...
However, destroying someone's car intentionally is just not cricket.
If I was the car owner I'd be happily paying the £250 after the farmer paid for my car.
It was an accident at the end of the day.

People are actually defending the farmer?
Alright so his fence may have been damaged, by an accident.... You can't just demolish somebodies car with a forklift truck
What would he do if somebody accidentally bumped into him on the street and made him fall over?
Based on the severity of the over-reaction the guy needs locking up, he's clearly an unhinged danger to society.

Does seem excessive what he's done. Seems like he acted in a fit of rage.
If reporters were able to take pictures of the damaged fence, he seems to have been in more of a hurry to smash up the car than to fix his fence.

its post and wire, no way is it £250 worth. farmer is a cunt of the highest order, hes destroyed a car because its lost control in the dark and snow, then he came back first thing the following morning to sort it.
dead safe to wander round country lanes in the dark and snow, waiting for someone else to drive along and kill you.

Farmer was removing it to secure the fence so that his sheep did not escape and cause a bigger accident, that's the issue?

wasnt broken, just bent. probably harder for them to get passed a car than a bit of wire anyway.
