I keep getting tempted to run no front plate but I don't want a reason to keep getting pulled over so don't bother.

ANPR can happily read anything as long as its roughly the required size and on a retroreflective background -
Saying that however, some of the stuff I used to test could read letters hand drawn on paper and that was 4 or 5 years ago now !

I was always under the impression that the spacing was so that humans could interpret/see it correctly and so you couldn't alter the appearance of the character

ANPR reads with or without spaces,

I have had my plate for about 8 years, never been pulled. its the correct font, correct colour and on display in the correct place.

They are apparently going to relax the laws on spacing i seen on another forum.

I've got the space in a different place on mine and a 3/4 plate on the front. *Touch wood* I've not been pulled in the 4 years I've had it on the car.

My front number plate is a 3/4 size, illegally spaced and cracked to fuck. It also sits about 8" off the ground and mine doesnt get picked up by the ANPR in petrol stations.

Whether it gets picked up by copper ones i dont know.

Same, correct size, lettering and font with one incorrect space and not been bothered at all. Passed plenty of coppers. As long as you're not taking the piss with silly fonts and sizes, they don't seem to care.

It is acceptable, but the copper who pulled me wasn't sure. He let me off, but said if he stopped me again for it he would be issuing me a fine. So that's why i took it up with HQ.

My Dads plate is K10 0PJ

His initials are PJ.

If he ran it with K100 PJ would he get pulled do you reckon?

Looks to obviously illegal IMO.

Just get it made up on a 3/4 size plate. It's looks closer together but still legal. Winner.

Parent live in Norfolk so M62 not a risk. Maybe down there he'll be okay. Norfolk has only just got colour TV.

I've ran with the space out of my plate for 3 years, never had any trouble. They are the legal size and font, just missing the space between the number(s) and letter

Wrong

Happened to a guy at work so not that wrong. Based on the fact the police reported to DVLA on 3 separate occasions

Yes as long as the txt is the correct font and size and i think there has to be a certain amount if white around the txt. Eg you cant have the numbers/letters going right to the edge (top/bottom)

That's a 6 letter plate though. The font is a fixed size, the plate simply needs to have a minimum border of 11mm round all the lettering.
