Ahh its the older model. Much better!!!
Its slower, but like I mentioned with the other bikes, it has a more useable power band.
So a good choice, but its a little overpriced.
Whos the lad above, F3, for a first bike. Seriously?????
Well, this is mine Is that better for you?

Fazza, book it, buy leathers, decent lockable lid (as in visor, like a pin lock), a cheap back protector and book a track day.
Do it, you'll learn far more in a 20 minute track session than you will 6 months on the road!
Stoney, good to see your alive, moved up to a 750? Great choice, fantastic all rounder!! You done any track sessions yet? Im off to Portimao this year with my track CBR Can't wait

That R6 is a good first bike for appropriate sensible rider. Just be careful of the red mist and hidden police

R6 is a fairly decentish price for them down here. seem to be all strong money down here
But yeah the last of the older shape, Im not keen on the newer ones(tank seems too big) and the 'fastbikes' review said the older one is a better road ride

Nice bike. I had an '07 R6 and thought it was good. Still want another.
Useable power means laziness with the gearbox. Keep it singing and fun times will be had.

More torque, less RPM, still just as quick and much quicker on the road. I want one as a track bike. Still too much for a first bike I think, but someones going to buy the bike they want whatever anyone else says anyway. Less track bike than a newer shape R6, but still quite still. A new rider will never get anywhere near what it can give.
This R6 is less race orientated and more road orientated. A much better road bike and much more forgiving, but also more usable as not at silly rpm to get it going. And it will go well still and still cut it on a trackday.
Jimmy, 2 stroke high rpm nutter Still got your track bike? (was you I think?)

I think john-d just likes the way the daytonas look over the other options.

I can see why people like them and get them, but, why cant they make a learner/first bike that looks like a sports bike

Not everyone likes the looks of a sports bike? Insurance is cheap as chips on these, was £300 with a fresh license.
If I had kept it for a 2nd year it would be £110

Why isn't a sports bike a first bike?
An tbh there's a few little 250sports bikes coming out now.
People recommend honda hornets which very much like a bandit but with sports bike power,
So people can't use the power factor.

Yeah, theres lots of bikes.
Older Supersport 600ccs, usually around 100bhp. CBR/GSXR etc. Its enough, mine keeps up with much faster bikes, its demoralising them coming past (honestly, its like comparing a 1.0 car with a 3.0 twin turbo, its that silly), but then you just work harder on braking and cornering
Suzuki SV650/Gladius/Bandit/GSXF
Kwak 250cc, or ER6N.
Honda Hornet.
Plus nakeds of the above, plus other bikes. Plenty out there to learn and progess onto better things in time. Never stop learning on a bike, ever.

i just like the sports bike look, as does john-d... Hes not hugely arsed on power..
Considering a 400 cc vfr or rvf maybe but dream bike wise he loves the daytona 675

For the road I've got a tricked up CBR 600 F Sport which will be for sale shortly. Had a Ducati 748 after the R6, then after that i went for an '05 R1. Didn't keep that long as I found I was riding it at ridiculous speeds without trying too hard to. Took it on a top speed run, and the thought of what would have happened should I have been caught made my decision to sell. Got an Aprilia RSV Mille just to put me on till I got the CBR 600

Not after it tried to kill me at Mallory Park back in October! Left me with an overnight stay in Leiceseter Royal. Broke my right collar bone, shoulder blade, heavily bruised hip, lung and ribs. Oh and i was knocked out for a few mins Decided I needed a year off 2 strokes so I broke it and I've just a few parts left. Got me enough money to get another track bike, a new set of leathers and a helmet.
Got a Kawasaki ZXR400 SP now which is running around 75BHP
