probably, although other cars ran lower than expected figures and they did say it was a good engine (probably just tried boosting my ego).

Thought your ego was already high?
They are pretty decent engines, don't think there's a better sounding standard engine either

the z4 inside possibly beats it, but then it sounds proper pants outside

just done my insurance renewals. £604 for the Z4 and £540 for the focus. these were cheaper last month. i hate insurance companies

will give greenlight a ring tomorrow and see if they can beat it. if not, it's admiral for another year.

I'm with admiral, I had 3 different prices within a week, kept jumping up then going back down, last quote I got it dropped further so I bought it before I even had the car

Yeah z4 sounds crap from outside, I need to find someone to make me a backbox or something

Just spoke to them about a renewal although there not cheaper its nice to talk to people that have a clue and intrested in cars as previously mentioned.

Although think it would only be a lot cheaper if like Gav you've modified it a lot.

Got quoted with map, springs ect and he said it wouldn't make a difference to the price having all that on and even made a suggestion around suspension choice seem a good company. Just a shame as my car is currently standard it's not cheaper then my current insurer but if I chose to modifie I'm sure they would be

What do they class as "performance" then?

I know most places will put it down as modified if you say you have a different air filter

He was saying that things like springs, tuning box ect are little add ons which they will cover under there 'standard' policy as they are a modified car insurer, highly modified he referred to having a hybrid turbo conversion or extensive engine or body work. Like Gav supercharging a Honda civic if you rang up Churchill say they'd not have a clue and charge loads were as these guys won't. They don't insure any non performance car either so ther example was like a normal clio or Cora so unless its a SRI or cliosport they won't insure it.

They seem really good if you have a modified car and need insurance. For instance if I rang my insurance and said I want for example a tuning box they'd properly either say no or it's £££ were as these guys just said ok no problem that won't cost any more. I'm not actually changing any thing on mine yet so isn't worth it but if I go down the route of suspension remaps ect I would go with them as they'd soon be cheaper compared to if I rang my current company and said I want to modifie it

Fair enough. Wonder if a 330d is classed as performance lol

Suppose there's nothing stopping you saying its been remapped by the previous owner and its now 290bhp!

Will give them a call at renewal time!

Flux messed me around royally. They offered me cheapest quote for my second year of CTR ownership, I spoke to a guy there for ages on the phone explaining it was for sale and I was looking for an STI Impreza to buy. He said yeah we'll insure that no worries, bit more expensive than the CTR but we'll cover it.

I sold the Civic, rang Flux to tell them to switch it to a Scooby that friday (I was off to pick it up) and they said "Sorry, we don't insure Impreza's or Evo's..." I then had to pay a £40 admin fee to finish my policy.

I ended up with a Subaru specialist, at a really good price - though I read about Greenlight afterwards and heard good things about them.

Will be. From the sound of their questions the benchmark figure seemed to be 180bhp.

My renewals due on the 23rd. I turn 25 on the 3rd of april. My current insurer come in at 785 before I turn 25 500 after. They wouldn't insure me at the lower price untill after my birthday. Also no mods declared but haven't done any yet. Greenlight came in at 525 with powerbox lowered alloys which I plan to put on this week. Happy with that great to speak too as well. If only my head gasket hadn't started going this morning

So basically, anything standard and it's pointless contacting them - regardless of whether your car is something performance or not as 'standard'?

Pretty much yeah as they are a modified car specialist, had you rang and said I have a corsa VXR with a shed loads of engine mods making xx amount of BHP ect they'd be considerably cheaper then any other 'normal' insurer if you rang them and tried to insuer it. They do state on there web site for standard cars there not the cheapest well along them lines any way

Fair play to them, £279 fully comp on my Roadster with supercharger conversion suspension mods and wheels That has REALLY tempted me to consider putting both cars on the road at the same time now

£279 jesus that peanuts I'd be happy if thats the lowest my insurance ever went let alone for a modified car. See now if you rang say churchill and got the same quote bet it would be £££ were as if both were standard quotes they'd be cheaper.

I think its a great company for cars like yours and gavs that most places probably would reluctantly insure

Is it worth bothering to ring them about a 1.8 vectra on coilovers?

True, but as great as the price is, I still have to tax it (£180ish for 6 months), replace some bearings in the charger and then I have two cars to maintain at the same time too.

Its almost half the price of of any other quotation I've ever had on the Roadster too, be it in N/A or forced induction form. Normally, due to it being a Jap import it usually gets stung too but not this time round. Hats off to you Greenlight

£641 to insure a nissan pulsar with 360bhp. Just under 900 through brentacre for a standard one.

Just need to wait on a decent pulsar now.

just got my quote back and it's £558.

only 50 quid cheaper than admiral, not that amazing. probably because they ask for 5 years worth of accidents, rather than 3 that admiral ask for.

think i'll stick with admiral for now. multicar policy means it's £1147 for the Z4 and focus together and if separate policies, it's £1179.
