The car has just had a 6k suspension rebuild and has a very track orientated geo. Im not allowed to fiddle with it yet im under instruction lol
As far as improvents go there are a couple, get that wing lowered as its just creating massive drag stuck up that high.
There is another 30bhp to be had out of the engine which will make it 360ish
The biggest thing we have to concentrate on it learning the tracks, mike knows which way the tracks go but he needs to really 'learn' them, where he can and cant take liberties etc

Learning the tracks is the trickiest part, what line you can take, grip levels at each track. I presume it was freezing up your way too, and that makes a huge difference to track temps and grip levels. But finding those extra few seconds is all down to pure track time really.
What about a lip spoiler across the rear, should still give rear end grip but without as much drag?

Ideally, with the spoiler lowered by 60% and the addition of a lip spoiler aswell in the form of a cut down turbo spoiler we should get slightly more rear end and reduce the drag..
Your right on the track time, he just needs to get intimate with the tracks now. Really study them.

Skim read the S2000, upto major parts of the cage, have they done all that work with the shell and not bothered to acid dip it? You can save 40kgs on some cars from dipping!

I dont know.
There is some serious dosh being outlayed there..
I heard it was a £200,000 build!
I recon with a bit of time getting used to the car, a tweak here and there and a little luck we will give that s2000 a good run for its money!

Can't see it being £200k.
Supercharger kit will be £5k, engine build, considering the block was already sleeved, probably the same again. £10k in suspension at the most, but I doubt that as they aren't external reservoir shocks are they? Air jacks are not going. To be any more than a grand a corner, ecu could be a few k, brakes possibly £8k, judging by what he says about the fronts... Gearbox is £7k, clutch £2k
I'd say, even with labour, you're under £100k.
Not to mention that they won't have paid anywhere near full price for most of it!

I've been reading on 22b and your name/car came up in conversation a couple of times - but I'm still putting forum names/cars/people together so getting confused easily

Is it me or has time attack become very commercial now?
Few years back it used to be very much a step up from track days, with normal people doing it for fun at weekends is assumed.
Now its race drivers doing it with race teams and major backing. Just wondered wot your view was chris, must be frustrating for mike racing against a car and team like hel and charlie bh.
Sort of hard to compete with a set p like that even tho sound like he is holding his own.
Bit like the green gtr last year coming along last year with miltec backing. Even more cars that seem to there as part of race teams this year.
Wot is your and AK views?

us (and Mike/Chris) in Club Pro is fucking bonkers....
We lined up in the holding area next to cars with easy 100+k spunked on them over the winter.
We have spent an obscene (well, i consider it obscene fore the lack of results at least) amount over the winter and although Fee didnt get a chance to set a time after 3 awful sleepless days I dont think she could have been anywhere near the front of her class.
There is a lot of money involved and some of the teams are proper tuner cars (should be in Pro!?) but its down in Club where the 'club' cars should be... this year there only looked to be a few that were true to that... 300zx, Escort, VX, Corsa ETC. Club 4WD is a joke

Just seems bit of a shame. The people who sort of started time attack seem to be getting price out of it, guess that wot happens when something gets popular and goes commercial.
Similar story for Bo, he has been in time attack for few years now and car keeps evolving and getting beta and faster. Saw off some competition last year.
This year gonna be even tougher.
I can see it pushing the people who started time attack away cos no way u can be competitive.

tbh, you can spend a lot less and run in much more competitive championships for the money.
Build a Boxster/Cayman for 30k (top notch build) and race in Porsche Club GB championship

What is the point in works teams competing especially if there's no prize money, kind of unfair too as those with more connections will get silly amounts of sponsorship money meaning there cars will be better and faster and at the end of the day whoever has more money wins! As said its gone from the days of a step up from a track day to a fairly serious competition

Yeah I bet it's frustrating, what can they (organisers) do though? Budget limits that are impossible to police?
Could the categories be reworked somehow to keep it competitive? Easy measurables like BHP is useless with 20k being spent on suspension with some cars

S2000 is about 1000kg and has nearly 550bhp - so about 550bhp/tonne
VX220 is about 800kg and has 333bhp - so about 416bhp/tonne..
different league in my eyes, plus the s2000 has a sequential gearbox
